Finding your Top 10 research priorities for Type 2 diabetes – by Faye Riley

Over the past 18 months, we’ve been searching for the top research priorities for Type 2 diabetes. Scientists and research funders usually make decisions around what research to carry out, but we want to change that.

So we asked people living with Type 2 diabetes, their carers and healthcare professionals to tell us what questions they wanted answered by research. And over 2,500 of you got in touch. We started off with over 8,000 ideas, which we narrowed down to a shortlist of 24 research questions.

On Saturday 22nd July, it was at last crunch time – our workshop to find the final Top 10 priorities. We invited 24 people, representing a wide range of groups from the Type 2 diabetes community (pictured above), to decide together which 10 questions were the most important.

After live tweeting from the workshop, we’ve collected our highlights to give you a rundown of the day.

We’ll be announcing the Top 10 in October, so watch this space and follow #Type2Top10.
