Diabetes UK launches new blogging website

Hello and welcome! We are pleased to announce the launch of our dedicated blogging site today. It features four new bloggers as well as entries from Andy Kliman who has been blogging about Type 2 diabetes on our website for just over a year. This site will also feature blogs from Diabetes UK staff, giving you the inside track on our latest news and exciting projects being launched in the coming months, alongside guest posts from some established diabetes bloggers from across the internet.

Users will be able to comment on each blog entry, and will also be able to easily share their favourite posts with friends and family on Facebook and Twitter. With a range of blogs covering Type 1, Type 2 and living with children who have diabetes, there should be something for everyone, and new blogs will be added over time.

“I have not found adjusting to diabetes very easy, and I wanted to write about the problems I’ve encountered to try and help other people with the condition who might be experiencing similar trouble,” said Jamye Drohan, one of our new bloggers who has Type 1 diabetes. “I hope my blog will help others by helping them to realise that they’re not alone, and by sharing tips and advice, or just experiences.”

“We are very excited about the launch of this new site,” said Graeme Manuel, Digital Media Manager at Diabetes UK. “We have used the popular blogging website WordPress to put the site together, meaning it can be as flexible as we want. We really hope it will prove a valuable place for people with diabetes to share their thoughts and experiences and we plan to increase our range of bloggers to reflect the diversity of life with diabetes.”

Hi, I had an unquenchable thirst for about 3 weeks and then decided to take a blood test on a friends monitor my reading was 33! That was 3 days ago – since then I have cut nearly all carbs and sweets and am currently down to 15 which I know is still very high but am amazed how just by cutting out these things it went down so quick. For me I believe that low carb is the best and will post again in a week to see if it continues to reduce so dramatically.
